I create yoga classes and workshops for teenagers. My classes allow a safe space for teenagers to connect to their bodies at a time where they might feel very disconnected. My classes focus on restoring a self of safety and joy by working to restore connection and flexibility to the nervous system. By doing so we can find balance, confidence and self compassion. Teenagers right now are overwhelmed, struggling with mental and physical health due to their nervous systems being in chronic survival mode. The pressures of school, exams, social interactions, digital media and concerns about the world around flood their systems with cortisol. By restoring the nervous system and teaching tools to harness flexibility, emotional and physical well-being are possible. When our nervous systems are overloaded we get stuck in a freeze response. From this state it is not possible to focus, concentrate, retain information or make good choices or build connections.
I have created yoga workshops for stress reduction in the run up to school exams, GCSE’s and A-levels. I ensure that all classes and workshops have fun and lighthearted elements, whilst maintaining the balance of yoga and mindfulness to create a class that releases stress and fosters flexibility and strength in body and mind.
